Worn on the waistband or belt, the pedometer is a simple device that records the number of steps you take.

The purpose for wearing the pedometer is to encourage greater activity level by providing feedback. Users are encouraged to record the daily total and to set ever increasing goals for number of steps walked per day.


These small inexpensive devices are consistent (statistically reliable) but may not be precise. That is, the actual distances depend on gait, stride length etc. However, the numbers are reliable so the higher the number, the more you have walked.

How To Use

A very simple device to use, simply attach it to your waistband or belt. Wear it for the entire day and record the number of steps daily. Set reasonable goals for yourself. If you find you inactive (less than 5,000 steps a day) for example, set your goal for about 10% greater than your daily number. Plan some activity at a specific time of day, such as a walk, to help achieve the increased daily number of steps. Once you attain that goal then increase the goal by another 10% or so and schedule some additional activity level to 10,000 or more steps per day.
