Products for Professionals / Aversion™- Subliminal Aversive Conditioning Stimulation
Functions
- Stimuli for aversive conditioning
Aversion™ is indicated as an adjunctive treatment for clients who would benefit from reduction in urges or cravings for specific substances such as certain foods or nicotine products. It has also been found to be a useful adjunct to other therapies in the treatment of alcoholism and other substance addictions.
Subliminal stimuli are presented at energy levels that are below the conscious recognition threshold. These stimuli are processed subconsciously and can affect attitudes, mood, and behavior. Research has indicated that subliminal stimuli can also affect the autonomic nervous system (E.G., heart rate) and the central nervous system (E.G., brainwave amplitude). Laboratory and clinical trials have demonstrated that AVERSION™ causes physical discomfort which may be useful in a treatment protocol designed to reduce urges or cravings for specific substances.
AVERSION™ is designed for in-office use by health professionals in the treatment of clients with habit and appetitive disorders. Typical application is in aversive conditioning paradigms and in neurotherapy. In some cases, the health provider may elect to have the client use AVERSION™ in the home environment under strict supervision.
